Joseph Lister gave us antiseptic in surgery
Ian Donald showed the world the first ultrasound of a foetus
Edwin Morgan became the first Scottish national poet
Jocelyn Bell Burnell discovered radio pulsars.
Today, our global community allows us to pursue the discoveries and connections that can improve our future, while our past achievements inspire our current world changers – Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Olympic gold medallist Katherine Grainger are both graduates.
We welcome 26,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students from more than 140 countries, offering a modern learning environment across two campuses in a city world renowned for its friendliness and inclusiveness. A third campus in Dumfries is home to our School of Interdisciplinary Studies.
